Filament does not have to be expensive to produce good-looking prints. After using enough specialty and premium materials to appreciate the differences, I have also learned that there is real value in finding an affordable filament that simply prints well without requiring constant adjustments.

Good Detail Without the Plastic Shine
Another advantage of the matte surface is how it affects visible details.

What Could Be Better
Matte PLA is slightly more specialized than ordinary PLA. The additives that produce its appearance can affect strength and layer adhesion, so I would not automatically choose it for a heavily stressed mechanical part. For decorative and general-purpose prints, however, that has not been a significant concern.
White filament also reveals dirt, nozzle residue, and contamination more readily than darker colors. I make sure the nozzle is clean before beginning an important white print, particularly after using black or brightly colored filament.
A four-spool package is a great value if I know I need that much white filament, but it is more than a casual user may want to store. Someone trying matte PLA for the first time may prefer to begin with one spool.
Finally, matte filament can vary slightly from ordinary PLA in flow and temperature requirements. A familiar PLA profile is a good starting point, but a quick calibration print may produce better results than assuming every brand will behave identically.
My Verdict
